Adriesue "Bitzy" Gomez was a pioneer of trucking that has been erased from history.

In the 1970’s the Coalition of Women Truck Drivers, was a 150 member group that organized to fight hiring discrimination, sexual misconduct in trucking companies and raise awareness of lack of bathroom facilities at truck stops for women. The work of these women paved the way to the modern day recruitment campaigns that encourage women to apply for truck driving jobs and "Good Fath" EEO hiring efforts.

Bitzy passed way in the Spring of 2015 after being hit by a car while walking across a busy street in Orange County California. Her Brother Paul Critchett joins us as our guest to remember his sister's tenacity , advocacy and the life struggles she encoutered trying to support her children while working as a long-haul truck driver.

In April 1999 a series of public hearings were held to gather information for a Truck/Bus Safety initiative. A major issue that arose in the investigation process was that there was a lack of safe available truck parking.

The 38 page document established the difficulties drivers face when seeking safe truck parking. Of course the most obvious solution, “…create more truck parking…” was advised.

n February of 2010, 2generation truck driver Heather Rose wrote to the Ellen Voie, the President of the non-profit Women in Trucking organization, to clarify exactly what and who they represented. In the original posting to this site which was had to be split into 3 individual posts due to its length there were nearly 200 comments in total to the remarks made by Ellen Voie. Because litigation had been implied in the past by Ms. Voie to conceal criticism of her conduct, a second email was delivered to receive implicit permission to publish the questions on this site.
