Listening Session for the Women of Trucking by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission

A virtual listening session has been offered to the REAL Women in Trucking organization by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission to hear from truck drivers from vulnerable and underserved communities.

We are asking those who have had a personal experience or can speak for someone who has experienced discrimination, sexual harassment, or sexual assault in the trucking workplace to please participate in this listening session.

We understand that some people may feel uncomfortable speaking during this listening session but want to be heard. We can arrange to tell your story for you so that you are not put on the spotlight. Please email Desiree Wood for additional information desiree@realwomenintrucking.org

We are asking other trucking groups, trucking media and trucking associations to share this notice so that as many people who have been affected can be notified of this event. We do not want to anyone excluded who may have been affected. We want everyone to have the opportunity to be heard.

Commissioner Kalpana Kotagal of the EEOC invites you to join her on Friday, October 4 at 12 PM ET as she conducts a virtual listening session as part of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s (EEOC) REACH Initiative. REACH strives to prevent and remedy employment discrimination by ensuring that workers have access to the EEOC’s services and know their rights. By making the Commission more accessible to those historically underserved, the initiative advances fair and inclusive workplaces with equal opportunity for all.

Through REACH, Commissioner Kotagal is conducting listening sessions with a broad range of stakeholders in different areas around the country. These sessions examine how the EEOC can bolster its efforts to reach vulnerable workers by identifying existing barriers and soliciting recommendations on how to better serve these populations. This virtual listening session will focus on the unique needs of the women of trucking. The Commissioner will provide brief opening remarks and hear from workers about their experiences with employment discrimination and recommendations for progress. This session is off the record and will not be recorded. Please join if you can!

There is a brief form you need to fill out. HERE
